I was happy to see a message from Karen in my inbox. Hello Everyone!  As I write this, it is the “official beginning of summer”!   Yay!  Summer is my favorite time of year.  Maybe because I grew up in Florida?  I never even owned a coat until I moved to Indiana as a young adult! …

Multi-tasking at its best from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

My brain always seems to be working overtime, and yesterday was no exception. I'm sure you all have your favorite people that you follow on Facebook or IG. You know the ones that are either building/renovating a house/castle/chateau or own pets (goldens, huskies, or other breeds with a few cats thrown in. And as they reach their various milestones, they post the numbers.

But have you noticed how the number of content creators has exploded? Everyone thinks they can be a content creator because how hard can it be? And some of them are definitely better ...

Overall Feather Design from The Quilt Yarn

Well, I am back on my sitdown and very happy. Cleaned up the sewing room and made use of the now empty spare room to put the computer in. Feeling less crowded and things are much better organised.

Started on my workshop sample, just trialling different things that I want to cover in class. The sample gives me an idea on how long it approximately takes to stitch out the class content and also what size of practice samples should be cut out for class
I got side tracked, of course...started playing with rulers, tried different things, realised I ...

Doing what you think you don't like from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH MY --- someone mentioned in the comments about Mary Ellen's book -- "It's OK if you sit on my quilt." Indeed, there were NO quilt police for her! Mary Ellen was quite the spitfire - I heard that from the shop owner where I used to hang out. And definitely, there were no quilt police in Mary Ellen's life. It's a great book. All three of her books that I have (well, technically, now two) are amazing. The amount of detail, flexibility, and freedom she gives is refreshing.

We need NEW books like that. Books that give you ...

To-Do Lists from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I see I am not the only one who pushes the long arm to the limits! Yes—you can get away with minimal excess on the backing, BUT only if it is your quilt and you are the operator! It's fiddly, and you must babysit that thing along all the edges! And sometimes things happen, like when the pin (I no longer use clamps) that holds the elastic grip on the side gets caught on the machine bed. I had to do a wee bit of ripping yesterday. But not a big deal because I was standing there and ...

Let's start with the puzzle stores - actually, there are many sources of puzzles, but here are the main ones that I know of.

You also get 10% back in reward points, which you can apply to any future purchase. They also sell The Occurrence puzzles, which are made in Merrickville, Ontario. HIGHLY recommend visiting the store or the website. Check the website for hours as they do NOT open until NOON.

New residents for the backyard from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Alright - Mother Nature! We've had enough! I turned the heat off yesterday morning, but I had to turn it back on later in the day. It never got above 10 degrees Celsius, and it's just cold with the wind. I see the temperature will go up later today, and the sun will come out, which will help. With all the rain, clouds, and wind, those low temps are cold!

While it was a day for errands in the car, I also managed to start the appliqué. I got the stars done for both blocks.

Progress on the appliqué ...

And then this happened.................. from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH -- there were a few comments about husbands cooking -- to be clear, mine took over cooking before the pandemic, and like Tammy's, he is constantly saying, "Oh, this is very good." While not implying that his cooking is better than mine, there are just subtle comments. Or, maybe I'm reading too much into the comment. However, he has recently gotten a more demanding job, and while he still works from home, he often doesn't have time to cook, or he finishes work at 8 PM and then decides to cook -- I'm on my way to bed ...

Getting back to the routine! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The good news is that with shorter and slower walks and lots of ice, I'm doing OK. Better than OK, and that makes me happy.

However, someone is very unhappy with the short walks and is protesting. Every time I was near the front door, guess who was there? Demanding that I take her for another walk. How does she know her walk was shortchanged? Lexi is just happy to get out and doesn't care how long the walk is.

However, the morning walk with Murphy was bizarre. I think I had mentioned that we had some lightning ...
