Community Quilts from Ray from Jo's Country Junction

Ray got loaded down with customer quilts when all the snowbirds started returning to Florida. He squeezed out some time to finish a couple of community quilts. Ray writes:I have a rags to riches story for you today. Earlier in the year Karen C. in AR contacted me. She had some WIPs etc. that she …

Sunday Stash November 30, 2025 from Quilt Paint Create

No fabric in this week.

I finished Verticals for 4 yards out.  It’s a free pattern from The Fat Quarter Shop website.

Some of the border fabric came from an Art Quilt Group member destash.  The backing fabric came from the Guild, part of a donation that was earmarked for charity quilts.  The quilt will go to Safehouse, a battered women’s shelter.

I constructed the quilt using QAYG.  I basted the backing to the batting and pieced the quilt onto that.  I took a lot of space (quilt is 60×80), more than my sewing room could handle ...

Community Quilts from Karin from Jo's Country Junction

This is my last installment of Community quilts from Karin. Well, I shouldn’t say that. Karin will continue doing quilts. I just finally got to the end of the emails in the recent mass sending from her. I love getting emails with finished community quilts. I’m happy I’ve finally worked my way through them. Knowing …

Community Quilts from Karin from Jo's Country Junction

I’m still working my way through Karin’s emails of finished quilts. Here is the latest. Karin writes: Here we’re starting off with another sweet quilt, bound for a young girl, or maybe a wheelchair chair bound, young-at-heart woman.  Such an interesting and clever use of various sized squares, alternating with a focus fabric, and everything …

Sunday Stash November 23, 2025 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

I am determined to finish Verticals sooner rather than later.  The center is sewn and the side borders added.  It still needs borders on the top and bottom.

I managed to start a little too far over (assembling QAYG), and the backing was ½ inch too short on the bottom of one side.  I was annoyed, but it was easily fixed.  I knew I hadn’t cut the backing straight.  I could see it angled in on one side.  Sometimes you squeak by, sometimes you don’t.

Fabric In:  8.625 yards

Fabric Out:  24 ...

Can you believe I am only about halfway through the emails that Karin sent? She was really a busy gal. Karin writes: Hey Jo, how ya holding up?  We are on batch 3, and there’s still one more box to go!!  Starting off here, we have a gorgeous teal, green and cream beauty. I have …

Sunday Stash November 16, 2025 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

Work continues on Verticals.  I need to add four more strips and the borders.  I would really like to have it finished by the end of the month.

Many days I wasn’t able to get in the sewing room, but I was able to stitch.  I haven’t shown my progress on Fairy Tales Live on the Roofs for a good while.  The backstitch on this piece is no joke.

I’m about halfway across the design, with maybe 40% stitched.  The left side of the pattern is more stitch heavy than the right ...

Any Volunteers?? from Jo's Country Junction

A generous blog reader sent me some quilt tops to be longarmed and donated. Is anyone interested in finishing them and then donating them to the charity of your choice in your area? They are all so pretty… I don’t know the name of the patterns. All are lap sized…a border could be added if …

Sunday Stash November 2, 2025 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

I sewed on Verticals this week, less than I’d hoped. I have 1/3 of the narow strips sewn. My sewing room isn’t big enough to spread it out and get a good picture.

I think you get the idea.

It has taken over the space. I need to finish it to be able to work on other things.

Now that it’s November, I’m starting to think about what I want to work on in 2026. I like to let ideas rattle around for a bit before committing to anything. I ...

Project Graduation Quilt from Quarter-Inch Capers

Happy Halloween everyone. I don’t celebrate, but I may be in the minority on that. My dogs go on high alert when anyone rings the doorbell, so I definitely don’t give out candy. Well, a large bag of candy is close to $10, so I’m also considering it a cost savings.

I got a quilt finished yesterday.

One of the charities my guild supports is the Day One Graduation Project. They give new luggage and a quilt to graduating seniors who are in the foster program.

The minimum size for the quilts is 50” x 70”. Betty ...

Community Quilts from Ray from Jo's Country Junction

Adele A. in UT made this beautiful snowball quilt and sent it to me. The fabrics all work so well together and really make those snowballs pop. Such an interesting layout! Love it! I used the Boing motif to longarm it with an off white thread on top and a gray-blue thread on the back. …
